He’s young, good-looking and in line to the British throne. She’s a powerful influencer and one of the first street style fashion sensations. And they may just be an item. Alexander (Alex) Ogilvy and model Isabella Charlotta Poppius have been making headlines since they were rumoured to be romantically involved last year – and the gossip wagon has only been gathering steam.

News of a potential romance first circulated in the summer of 2022. Popular Italian blog Le Più Affascinanti Di Milano posted images of the supposed couple looking all loved up. Another publication, Le Figaro, claimed the two were in a serious relationship. In December 2022, a columnist from The Mail wrote that they had a brief fling, but stayed in contact afterwards. The two often find themselves trending on social media as fans search for clues on their relationship status.

But just who are Ogilvy and Poppius, and what are their royal ties? Here’s what we know …

Alexander Ogilvy, The royal who went viral on TikTok

Ogilvy is the grandson of the late Queen Elizabeth’s cousin, Princess Alexandra of Kent. At the queen’s funeral, he became a TikTok sensation after he was filmed walking with the procession at Westminster Abbey.

Harper’s Bazaar reports that a nine-second clip of Ogilvy at the funeral with the hit song “Unholy” was uploaded on the platform and viewed more than 4.9 million times so far.

A private life and the Kennedy connection

The son of James and Julia Ogilvy is Queen Elizabeth’s first cousin twice removed, and 54th in line to the throne. He was born in Edinburgh in 1996 and appears to lead a private life, choosing to stay out of the headlines.

Although he is not often seen at royal events, he has been spotted on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the Trooping the Colour military parade during the British monarch’s official birthday celebration.

Although he may try to stay out of the spotlight, in 2019 he made headlines after he began dating Michaela Kennedy-Cuomo, the granddaughter of Robert Kennedy and grandniece of John F. Kennedy. They did not confirm they had split, but Kennedy-Cuomo eventually stopped posting loved-up images of herself with the royal in 2017.

He’s an Ivy League grad and a royal who works

In 2016, Ogilvy spent a gap year in Australia at Sydney’s elite Scots College. He also has a modelling career and in 2022 starred in a fashion shoot and Q&A for Rowing Blazers. In 2020, he graduated from Brown, an Ivy League university, where he studied computer science and economics.

His LinkedIn profile states that he currently works in a software development company called Prove. He lists his position as “product manager, identity” and before that “product analyst”. The company is based in New York, where Ogilvy currently lives.

Isabella Charlotta Poppius, the “It” girl and fashion week regular

Isabella Charlotta Poppius has been called one of London’s newest “It” girls. The model has presenter and sustainability advocate on her résumé, and is a regular at fashion weeks across Europe. In March, she was photographed with Lady Amelia Windsor at the launch of the Amelia Windsor x Pretty Ballerinas sustainable footwear collection held in London.In an interview with Country and Town House, Poppius spoke about some of her most iconic event looks. In 2016, she had what she called her first “viral street fashionwear look” at Paris Fashion Week. She said she combined a trend-led outfit with a timeless item, making her a favourite with fashion fiends.

So what’s her royal connection?

According to Harper’s Bazaar, Poppius was born in Helsinki, Finland. Her mother’s family is from Singapore, while her father’s side descends from Nordic aristocracy. Her father’s family is well-known and Scandinavia’s oldest journalism school is even named after it.

Isabella herself studied art history at the University of Glasgow and worked as a model in New York before eventually deciding to live in London.
